How do I buy on-line?
Use the search facilities to locate the product you require. Then click on the 'Buy' button and make sure you select the quantity of the item you require. If you make a mistake or are not sure if you got it right or not, call us on +44 (0)1273 738818 or send an e-mail to us. and a human being will get back to you.
Please be reassured that human beings run this site. If something does not look right to us, we check first rather than apologise later.
Is it safe to use my credit card on the site?
It is as safe as it could be. We use an encryption program (Secure Socket Layers, or SSL) to make placing card numbers safe. It is certainly more safe than handing your credit card to a waiter in a restaurant. We do not store your card details so they aren't available to be taken by anyone.
Can I talk to a human being?

I am registered with you for the Ministers discount Scheme, can I still get discount?
As a Minister's Discount Scheme Members you will receive a 15% discount on all our book products if you hold a current card.
We will calculate your discount before charging your card, if you do not receive the discount please send an e-mail to us. Alternatively you can telephone +44 (0)1273 738818 during normal office hours 09:00 - 17:00 GMT.
Will you charge me for the goods as soon as I place my order?
No not at the time of ordering - we only collect your chosen method of payment.
We will only debit your card when we are ready to send the goods to you. In this way we ensure we only charge you for the goods we despatch.
Can I just ask a question without purchasing any goods?
Of course you can. Fill in the boxes below, press OK and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
What happens if the goods arrive damaged?
The standard conditions of purchase always apply and we will happily replace any damaged or faulty goods. We may ask you to return the damaged goods but we will give you instructions at the time of your query.
If it is our fault that the goods have become damaged, we will refund the postage as well.
Any refunds will only be made to the card holder who ordered the goods and will be electronically processed. In all queries of this nature please quote your Books Alive Order / Reference Number, which was given to you upon placing your order.
What is your returns policy?
At Books Alive we want you to be delighted every time you shop with us. If for any reason you are unhappy with the goods that we sent to you, return them in their original condition within 30 days, stating why you are not satisfied and we will issue a full refund for the price of the item.
We will also be happy to refund the delivery charge if the return is as a result of our error.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We are happy to process orders using the following credit or debit cards: Visa, Visa Electron, Visa Delta, Solo, JCB, MasterCard, Maestro and Switch cards.
Postal Orders in Great Britain Pounds Sterling (GBP) or cheques in Great Britain Pounds Sterling (GBP) and drawn on a UK bank will also be accepted.
Can I check the progress of my order?
On-line checking or an order's status will be introduced soon but until then you may telephone +44 (0)1273 738818 during normal office hours 09:00 - 17:00 GMT or send an e-mail to us.
You can confirm that your order has been accepted by clicking on the My Order button at the top right of any of our pages.
Enter your tracking code e-mailed to you with your order confirmation.
What is your privacy policy?
Books Alive has long acknowledged the need for integrity when handling personal details of its customers. We will not sell or make available your details to a third party for whatever reason.
We also make sure that details about yourself are held securely and are not accessible to others.
How will I know you have received my order?
When you place an order you are required to give us an e-mail address and, assuming you have typed it in correctly, you will get a confirmation in your mailbox.
