The Global Bible is written in the Global Contemporary English Version (the CEV engineered for the entire English speaking world). It was translated by a committee of over 100 scholars for ten years sponsored by the American Bible Society and translated with an emphasis on oral readability. It has been globally adapted by Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, the US, and South Africa.

It is translated as a dynamic equivalent—the meaning is communicated rather than the exact wording. It is translated for the ESL (English as a Second Language) market—the reading level is the lowest of any major translation (5th grade). It uses metric measurements and American spelling—both are more widely used around the world.
